Celebrating a World of Disability Arts and Culture
Cheltenham 19th - 21st September 2003

Day 2 Symposium: Art & Power - LIVING LIFE!

An organization call Equata has elected me as the only Asian Conference speaker to Above and Beyond Disability Arts Festival/Conference from 19 - 21 September 2003 in Cheltenham, UK. Above and Beyond is a prestigious United Kingdom Arts event organized by Equata (Equality and Access to The Arts) to celebrate world-wide development of arts and culture by accomplished artists who happen to be disabled. Above and Beyond is supported by the UK Arts Council, Gloucestershire County Council and Moat House Hotels and targets mainstream (including able-bodied) artists, practitioners, administrators and educationalists.

Scheduled to speak at the Festival's Symposium 2: Art and Power, it will be a sharing of life experiences, how creative arts has enriched and changed my life completely. The talk will motivate and hopefully inspire with personal anecdotes interspersed with own compositions titled 'Live Life' and 'Painted Without Hands'. There will be displays of works from Chinese Paintings, Acrylics to Watercolors, handing out of brochures linked with a homepage with galleries to view and articles to read along with personal perspectives on art-making as an artist with physical challenges in Singapore. Among foreign artists from New Zealand, US, Australia, Canada, I am privileged to be the only Asian and Singaporean artist invited for this international festival.
